Is the pendulum swinging - back to doing the right thing?

It is trite to say that 'we live in interesting times' but it is true that we do.  We have been through a period of time where there has been a loss of trust in our politicians and governments at all level as well as our major institutions, particularly those operating in the financial services sector.  Why is that so?.  There are many reasons, but to me the most fundamental reason is that there has been a dearth of 'doing the right thing'.

How can we change this and make sure that we have a prosperous stable, diverse and sustainable society?  To me it is going back to the basics of organisations, people and especially leaders, refocussing on 'purpose' and developing and embedding values that people will strive to live by.  That is not easy, but it is the only way that the 'Right Thing' will be done.
